Now that the revised reading schedule has been worked out for the rest of the quarter, I feel a little more comfortable about extending the deadline for revisions of the first essay. Although the deadline printed on the essay comment sheet was November 13 (and you are of course welcome to use this as your deadline), I will accept revised first essays up to November 20.
One further clarification--several of you have noted that the revised schedule shows the final exam as crossed out. What does that mean? Are we like Jo, shuffling through the streets, unfamiliar with the shapes, and in utter darkness as to the meaning? Maybe. Right now all I know for sure is that we will not have an in-class final on December 11 but instead will use that class time for further adventures in readings, presentations, and discussions. I will still ask you to reflect on the course topic and on the texts we have examined, but that reflection will be more informal and completed outside of class. I'll have more to say on this culminating activity as soon as I figure out what it is.
